Looking for Childcare?
Finding childcare takes time but planning ahead can alleviate some of the stress on your family. The Regional Childcare Resource and Referral Office (CCRR) maintains the consolidated Wait List for all six centers in Metro San Diego located on Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, MCRD, MCAS Miramar, Naval Medical Center and Murphy Canyon housing area and for spaces in Navy licensed Child Development Home providers (in-home care).

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When can I get on the Wait List?
A: As soon as you know you need childcare, you are pregnant, or you have orders to the Southwest Region.

Q: Who qualifies and in what priority order?
A: Priority 1 - Single parent and dual
active duty military families
Priority 2 - Sponsor with working
spouse or full time student spouse
Priority 3 - A reservist with orders
Priority 4 - Department of Defense
or Civilian Contractors

Q: How long will it take to get into a Center?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot give time estimates because the waiting time depends on many factors; i.e. when a space becomes available at a Center, which age group has the opening, the number of people who decline the opening, and the number of people who do not update and are removed from the list.

Q: How much does childcare cost?
A: The Child Development Center fees are based on total combined household income. There are 6 categories of weekly fees ranging from, (call for costs), per week.

Child Development Home Program (CDH)
Earn extra Income!
Want to be your own boss? Child Development Home Program (CDH) is looking for providers to work out of their home. Being a CDH care-giver provides a great source of income while saving you the expense of child care. Becoming a provider through the Navy is free and we will help you set up your home with equipment and toys from the CDH resource library.

CDH provides on-going training on child development topics and sends a monitor to inspect and assist you on a monthly basis. Active duty military, DoD, retirees and civilian spouses qualify.

Become a Navy Child Development Home Provider. It’s rewarding and exciting! Informational meetings held the last Tuesday of each month.
