Alpine Tower 08 The Alpine Tower and L.E.A.D. program is back! Sign your team up to experience the latest in motivational and teambuilding exercises with the Outdoor Adventure Center’s L.E.A.D. program (Leadership, Education and Development)… re-opened, refreshed and ready for your command, group or team reservations NOW!

The L.E.A.D. program offers a variety of challenges for your group, including a series of fun and practical ground-based teambuilding initiatives along with challenges on the Team Development Course (low ropes activities). However, the main attraction is the Alpine Tower, a 50-foot climbing structure that gives participants and teams an opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally at a higher level. The Alpine Tower features multiple platforms available with more than 150 handholds offering 26 different climbing routes, plus the Giant Swing.

The L.E.A.D. program is especially good for groups that want to develop team skills through increased communication, leadership, trust and teamwork activities. This program is open to all groups, ages, ability levels, and needs.

The Outdoor Adventure Center
is located on Naval Station in Bldg. 3223 – the Admiral Robinson Recreation Center, (619) 556-7493. The OAC is open to all authorized users – military personnel, their families, DoD civilians and sponsored guests. Stop in to rent the outdoor equipment and resource materials you need for your next outing or reserve the climbing wall or LEAD programs that interest you!Outdoor Gear Rental Point Loma has all you need for camping and water sports.

PROGRAMS

Have you ever experienced the Missing Link? How about the Diabolical Seesaw or Raising the Sphinx? Choose from one of four types of LEAD programs and MWR's Outdoor Adventure Center will introduce you to these elements and more like Team Beam, Corporate Ladder, Perimeter Traverse and Titanic.


Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) Program
The LEAD (Leadership Education And Development) Program develops leadership skills in organizations and groups through team play. The LEAD program focuses on respect, reflection, responsibility, positive self-esteem, teamwork, communication and trust.
LEAD programs are open to all military and community groups, athletic teams, scout troops, etc. of all ability levels and needs.Alpine Tower
Spring is also a great time to consider command-training needs. The Alpine Tower, located behind Admiral Prout Field House on Naval Base, is a perfect fit for just such requirements. The 50 ft. wooden structure gives groups first-hand experience with decision-making processes focused primarily on group-oriented challenges. An Alpine Tower experience is open to participants 14 years and older, all ability levels and needs.

Team Development Course
The Team Development Course (TDC) is one of the most exciting tools used for exploring various fundamentals with all populations. Groups will strengthen group unity and attain all goals through group adventure play. Although simple in design, the physical and mental exercises that occur represent some of the most dynamic group initiatives.

Portable Rock Climbing Wall

Add adventure to your next event with 30 feet of climbing fun!
Call (619) 556-8576 to rent the rock wall.Specifications:
Ground climbing zone must be of 40 feet (length) x 40 feet (width) x 40 feet (height) when standing.
Ground climbing zone free of obstructions – no large rocks, roots, etc. A flat hard surface – grass or dirt is satisfactory as long as it is hard packed. Concrete or pavement is ideal.

To successfully register for a Climbing Wall Program, follow these steps:
Contact the Outdoor Adventure Center Manager at (619) 556-8576. To receive the required materials for registration. Fill out the Wall Registration Agreement form and return it to the OAC. Be prepared with: event date, time and location, approximate number of adult and minor participants; point of contact name; phone number with area code and e-mail address. You will be contacted to finalize all information.

Climbing Wall Fee:
On-base event (includes five Metro Navy Bases)
$ hour - minimum of two hours, (call for fee.)
Off-base San Diego area event
$ hour - minimum of two hours, (call for fee.)

Authorized Users:
Authorized users include all military personnel, their families, and DoD civilians. Sponsored guests are
permitted to utilize this program if sponsor is present.

If your outdoor equipment is in bad repair or needs a tune up, drop it off at OAC and let one of our equipment specialists inspect it. We’ll let you know if the equipment is fixable and tell you up front how much it will cost to fix it. Don’t let your equipment waste away – fix it today!

Phone: (619) 556-5525 for reservations.Nestled alongside the Admiral Baker Golf Course in Mission Gorge is the Admiral Baker RV Park campground. The campground is centrally located just a few miles away from Interstate 8 and Interstate 15 and only minutes away from Qualcomm Stadium. The grounds, well-suited for all ages, include playground equipment, an outdoor swimming pool, picnic areas, two volleyball courts, three basketball courts, three ball fields, two tennis courts and two
horseshoe pits.

The RV Park offers RV sites with water, electricity, sewage hook-ups and now cable TV at each site. Dry camping sites, complete laundry and shower facilities and Internet access for your computer laptop are also available.

Active duty military can make reservations up to 60 days in advance and retirees, reservists and DoD civilians with a valid ID card may make reservations up to 60 days in advance by calling (619) 556-5525. Maximum stay at the park is one month. Military personnel and eligible military patrons may sponsor guests, however, policy states that sponsors must stay at the park with their guests.
DIRECTIONS:
From Interstate 8 -- Take Mission Gorge Road to Friars Road and turn left. Continue on to Santo Road and turn right. Make an immediate right again onto Admiral Baker Road and follow it down the hill. At the bottom on the hill turn right into the parking lot.

From Interstate 15 -- Exit Friars Road East. Follow Friars Road to Santo Road. At Santo Road turn left. Take an immediate right onto Admiral Baker Road and follow it down the hill. At the bottom on the hill turn right into the parking lot.
