WELCOME!
Thank you for your interest in the 22nd Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk presented by SDG&E. This exciting event is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Program. You will be crossing the majestic Coronado Bay Bridge to raise funds to support Quality of Life Programs for Navy personnel.

START/FINISH:
The 4-mile run/walk starts in Downtown San Diego at Harbor Dr. and 5th Ave., adjacent to the Convention Center near the Gaslamp Quarter welcome sign, and finishes in Coronado at Tidelands Park.

PARKING:
Please plan ahead and arrive early! There are many parking lots and street parking spaces Downtown near the start area. Remember, parking meters are free on Sundays! Convention Center underground parking off 5th Ave. and Harbor Dr. is also available for a fee. Take the Trolley! It stops at 5th Ave. and Harbor Dr. right at the start line. For Coronado residents, buses are available to shuttle participants from Tidelands Park on Glorietta Blvd. to the start line Downtown from 6:30-7:15 a.m. Parking is limited in Coronado, so please arrive early to insure this service.

DIRECTIONS TO START LINE:
Traveling Southbound: take I-5 South, exit Front St., follow to Market St., turn left on Market St., follow to 4th Ave., begin looking for parking. Harbor Dr. is a few blocks south of Market St.
Traveling Northbound: take I-5 North, exit J St., turn left on J St., follow to 4th Ave. Begin looking for parking. Harbor Dr. is a few blocks south of J St.

RETURN FERRY/SHUTTLE:
You have two FREE transportation choices for your return trip to the race start area. RACE FERRY - all race participants may enjoy a FREE (included in race entry) Coronado to San Diego ride on a special “RACE FERRY” courtesy of San Diego Harbor Excursion. “RACE FERRY” departs at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and Noon from the Ferry Landing Marketplace, about a quarter mile from the finish line, and drops you off at Broadway Pier near the Midway Museum. The ferry is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Participants must wear their race bib number to be identified as a free rider, no exceptions. Friends and family of race participants are also invited to ride on the “RACE FERRY” for a $3 fee. Tickets may be purchased on the vessel at boarding. In addition to the “RACE FERRY,” the PUBLIC FERRY will be available every hour on the half hour, for participants, friends and family at a fee of $3 per person (not included in race entry). Ferry wait time is subject to availability.
BUSES are available from Tidelands Park to shuttle you back to the start line area FREE OF CHARGE starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until the festivities are over at approximately 11 a.m. Baby strollers and wheelchair access is available on transit buses. Guide dogs are the only animals permitted on the ferry, buses and race course.

PRE-RACE BIB PICK-UP EVENT:
Pre-race bib pick up is available on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RoadRunner Sports, 5553 Copley Dr., San Diego. You may pick up your T-shirt and May 25, 2008 Padres game ticket at this time. If you have already registered, you must bring your race number to receive a T-shirt and Padres ticket. If you did not receive your number by return mail, bring a valid ID and pick up your number, T-shirt and ticket. You may pick up friends or family race numbers with their authorization. We encourage you to attend the pre-race bib pick-up for ease on race day! Extra T-shirts for $12 and Padres tickets for $12 will be on sale at this time.

DAY-OF-RACE REGISTRATION:
There is NO day of race registration available.
BIB PICK-UP:
Pre-registered participants are invited to pick up their bib number, Padres game ticket and event T-shirt at the Pre-Race Bib Pick-Up Event listed above. If you are unable to attend a pre-race pick-up or do not receive your bib number by mail, race morning bib pick-up is available and located at 5th Avenue and K Street from 6:30-8 a.m. only. There is no race day registration. Those who pick up their bib number race morning will receive their Padres game ticket and event T-shirt at the finish line area.

RACE COURSE:
Participants are asked to line up at the race start according to pace per mile. Runners start at 8 a.m. with a separate start for walkers following the runners. This is a sanctioned and certified USAT&F 4-mile course. The race starts in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter on Harbor Dr. and 5th Ave. adjacent to the Convention Center. The race finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. Expect flat streets, an incline up the bridge and a decline down the bridge. Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top the bridge! Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates and pets are prohibited.

RUNNER’S GEAR:
You may check in your warm-ups at the start line near registration. Clearly mark the bag with your bib number. Do not pack valuables. MWR is not responsible for lost items. Bags may be claimed at the finish line by showing your bib number at the Runner’s Gear Pick-Up booth.

BIB NUMBERS:
All participants MUST wear their bib number on the front in order to cross the Coronado Bridge. The number is required to record your time and place and redeem your Padres ticket. Do not remove or pin the tear-off tag, or alter the number in any way. Numbers are non-transferable so no one else may wear a number assigned to you.

PADRES GAME TICKET:
All registered participants receive a ticket to the May 25, 2008 San Diego Padres game! The Padres will take on the Cincinnati Reds in a 1:05 p.m. game. Tickets are dispersed throughout the right field upper, upper reserved and upper infield seats. Padres tickets will only be distributed at the pre-race registration events and on race day at the finish line. Additional pre-purchased Padres vouchers will be mailed along with bibs. No refunds or replacements for lost or missing Padres vouchers. Seats to PETCO are dispersed throughout the upper decks. Pick up your tickets together to sit by friends and family! Tickets are available while supplies last.

T-SHIRTS:
Super 22nd Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk T-shirts are distributed to all registered participants at the pre-race registration events and at the finish line in Tidelands Park. You must present your bib number to claim your T-shirt.

POST-RUN/WALK PARTY:
Invite your friends to cheer for you at the finish line and celebrate at the post race party at Tidelands Park in Coronado. Enjoy refreshments, live music, sponsor booths and children’s activities. Make plans to stick around for the awards presentation and terrific drawing prizes from approximately 9:30-10:15 a.m. You must be present to win drawing prizes.


Water

WATER:
An ample supply of water is available at the start and finish lines and also before the bridge at Chicano Park. It is your responsibility to remain sufficiently hydrated throughout the race.

Awards UNIQUE AWARDS:
Authentic autographed Padres Baseball Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each age and military and civilian running team divisions at the awards table. The overall male and female first place finishers are invited to throw out the opening pitches at the May 25 Padres game.
  RESULTS/PHOTOS:
Results are posted online by 5 p.m. on event day at www.mwrtoday.com. Photos will be available for purchase on this site the week following the event. Please check back for the link.

The 22nd Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk starts on Harbor Dr. and 5th Ave., adjacent to the Convention Center in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter and travels south along Harbor Dr. to Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. Participants head east to National Ave., then up and over the Coronado Bay Bridge to the finish line inside Tidelands Park.

Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top the bridge. Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates and pets are prohibited.
