Offers full time care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age, and a part-day preschool program for ages 3-5 years old.
The CDC is a NAEYC accredited center who meets the national standards for high quality early childhood programs. Programs within the center are developmental in nature to meet the whole child’s needs and development. The curriculum is planned to reflect the program’s philosophy and goals for the children, to encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process and to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials. The CDC is under USDA Child Care Food Program and serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack daily. Fees are based on total family income.
The CDC is comprised of a main center and two annexes, is built with children in mind and offers the most up-to-date child care facilities plus a safe, healthy, warm learning environment for children, with trained and professional caring personnel.
The CDC has recently been expanded and now has 14 classrooms open and has a capacity for 220 children. There may be a waiting period for full time and part day programs at the CDC. Parents needing child care for any Child Youth Program
(CDC, Child Development Home, & Youth School Age Care) must complete a Centralized Waiting List (CEWL) Packet and this can be obtained from the CDC or Youth Services.

Offers home based child care on a full-time basis. Child Development Home Care Providers are qualified professionals operating independent programs in military and civilian housing. The CDH Program recruits, trains, certifies and monitors Home Care Providers to provide childcare services in government quarters. FCC Providers are an extension of the Child Development Center offering a variety of childcare services to meet the unique needs of the military schedule. FCC providers give high quality care and ensure that each child receives love, encouragement, guidance and space to grow. The FCC office is located in trailer 971 adjacent to the CDC. School Age Care Programs - For children ages 5-12 years. SAC programs meet the needs of working parents with children in school. The program is designed in a safe and fun atmosphere with age appropriate activities for school age youth.
Summer Camp Programs - For 1st-6th grade. Fun recreational activities with a summer theme, many field trips including swimming, bowling, arts and crafts as well as: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Island Water Park and other outside trips.
Teen Center Programs - For 6th-12th grades. Boys and Girls club programs such as Smart Moves, The Arts, Fitness, Leadership, Power Hour, Character Counts and more. Also open recreational programs including pool, foosball, game stations, fieldtrips, lock-ins, dances and more.
Youth Sports Programs - For 3-18 years. Sports include flag football, kickball, soccer, basketball, T-ball and cheerleading, summer sports camps and more.
Tiny Tot Classes - For 3-5 years social skills and recreational fun. Classes include arts and crafts, creative movement, story time, songs and much more.
Youth Services - Bldg. 995- Youth Services Programs are comprehensive programs designed for youth ages 3 to 18 years for recreational, educational, social and physical development.
The Youth Services program has 5 major programs including: Instructional Classes, Tiny Tot Recreational Classes, School Age Care and Summer Camp Programs and Teen Programs and Self Development for Teens. Programs are suited for youth 6mos-18yrs in recreational settings.
Parent Involvement Board is also a major part of the programming and volunteer services offered at Youth Services for all programs including the accreditation process for NAA (National Association of After school Programs).
Kid Zone School Age Care Program
School Age Care programs offered are a combination of Boys and Girls Club, 4-H, social and recreational programs to meet the developmental needs of youth in elementary school . We have many different activities from arts and craft to games and special events for the school age care child. Many youth enjoy the clubs programs such as The Arts, Smart Moves, Leadership, Power Hour Homework Tutoring and Reading, and Fitness that are special interest for youth. All youth may choose up to 4 rooms of activities planned for the week.
SAC programs offer a 1-15 adult to student ratio, for youth 6 and older and 1-12 for youth under 6yrs. Ratios for youth on field trips or outdoors is 1-10 for all age groups. Included in the SAC program are our Winter Break Camp, Spring Break Camp and Summer Camp programs. We have one of the largest programs in the Navy with 180 spaces on site.
Youth Sports and Fitness
Our Youth Sports Programs are know Navy wide for one of the best all around sports program for youth. All sports are geared for youth 5-18yrs. with specialty camps for 3 and 4 year olds. Youth Sports is a co-educational recreational sports program for youth.
All youth that register will participate and receive a uniform or t-shirt with team logo, as well as a trophy at the end of the sport. Coaches and referees are volunteers and are certified by Youth Services programs in Training techniques, as well as first aid and Child abuse prevention and reporting. Back ground clearances are required for all volunteers 16 and older. With the exception of the Sports Coordinator and recreational aids to assist, all sports programs are coached and refereed by volunteers on base. Volunteers are always needed, so think about becoming a volunteer to help your child have a great sports experience.
Specialty camps are the newest addition to our sports program. As we have been growing, our sports have boasted 200-300 youth per sport for the 2001 season. We feel that camps especially for the little ones would be a great introduction to the sport arena with no pressure from how well the child does in the sport. Navy Fit Factor is a program geared for fitness of all age groups for the well being of youth in today’s society. Programs are held through the School age Care programs, Teen Programs, and Special Events announced in our calendar for the year.
Teen Center - Bldg. 995/970
The Teen Center programs are two basic programs for teens ages 6th grade to 12grade. Youth are separated into grades to assure social consistency with appropriate programming for teen programs.
The Jr. high program is located in Bldg 995 only, and has both recreational programs and Boys and Girls club programs such as Smart Moves, Project Learn, The Arts, Fitness, Leadership, Power Hour, Character Counts, the Youth Sponsorship Program and more. Youth can relax and have fun, join clubs, and participate in special events that are age appropriate and fun. Recreational programs include: dances, socials, lock-ins, and field trips. All programs are announced on calendars of the month located at bldg 995.
The High school program is in both bldg 995 and 970 with 995 being the clubs side with Boys and Girls club programs such as Smart Moves, Project Learn, The Arts, Fitness, Leadership, Power Hour, Character Counts and more. college preparation, and career classes, and bldg 970 for social and recreation fun. The teen center offers a state of the art computer lab for homework help, and research for homework or for information on moving to other basis through our Youth Sponsorship programs. Recreational programs include: dances, socials, lock-ins, and field trips. All programs are announced on calendars of the month located at bldg 995.
Tiny Tot Classes - For 3-5 years social skills and recreational fun. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 11am from September to May with summer classes for 6 weeks in June and July. All classes include arts and crafts, creative movement, story time, songs and much more. Children participate in closing ceremonies and perform in a graduation in May to end the session for the year.
Instructional Dance and Tumbling Classes
Youth Services also offers instructional classes for youth 3yrs to 16 yrs. Classes offered are tumbling, ballet and tap. These are recreation classes for youth to develop beginning and intermediate skills for each program offered. Classes are 6 weeks per session and are held in the evening in the Kid Zone gym in bldg 995.
